Eastern Fairytale
This is a design I just completed for Slovakian shopping mall Eurovea based in the heart of Bratislava. The poster is to help advertise the mall & promote 'the best children's day you've ever experienced'! The headline translates roughly as 'Discover the Fabulous Paradise' & the image certainly contains a plethora of fairytale characters congregating round a tree that has magically sprouted up in the shopping centre!

Growing for Gold!
Another group of illustrations I've recently created for the chaps at Venner Shipley in their corporate colours. This time for their bi-annual magazine - Inside IP. The theme for the this issue was advances in patents for sports & plant technology as seen on the cover design & with the Olympics & Euro 2012 only weeks away we thought we should include a nod to those too. I also produced 3 internal illustrations to accompany features such as pharmaceutical issues, design patents & european law.

Eurovision of Beauty!
I designed this cover in collaboration with art director James Eric Jones for the May/June issue of Baku magazine - if like me you thought it was just another funky name for a magazine then you're wrong! It's also the name of the capital city of Azerbaijan & this is exactly what the magazine's about - all the cool things going on in and around the city.
Since this years Eurovision song contest will be hosted by Azerbaijan in the fine city of Baku it seems fitting that the cover celebrates the city coming alive with Eurovision spirit with all it's vibrance & kitschness! If you don't read Russian the headline reads "Eurovision here we come" & I'm sure the UK will come last as usual!

Secret 7"
last month I was asked to participate in this interesting project - Secret 7"- in conjunction with Universal Music & The Teenage Cancer Trust. Aiming to rekindle the interest in vinyl sleeve artwork, various artists were invited to create designs inspired by one of seven tracks from the likes of the Cure, Bombay Bicycle Club & Noah & the Whale.
Each sleeve was then displayed in the Idea Generation gallery, Shoreditch for the week and on record store day they were sold off containing the appropriate vinyl record with all proceeds going to the charity. The 'secret' part was that no one knew which artist had created which design nor which song was housed in it's respective sleeve until after it had been purchased!  My selected track was 'Only if for a night' by Florence + the Machine.

Web Sight
My illustration for the May/June issue of National Geographic Traveller sits along side an article about how the guidebooks may bang on about the all the amazing things you can expect of a country like the sights & culture but they never seem to mention the local wildlife including the creepy crawlies!

Ask a Policeman!
This was my entry into this year's SERCO illustration award competition which was run in conjunction with the association of illustrators. The theme was 'Secret London'& had to feature something unknown or secret about the city. My image depicts London's smallest police station which is tucked away in a corner of Trafalgar square - alas it's no longer used by the met with the advent of cctv but it does come in handy for the cleaners to store their brooms!

Spring has Sprung?
Well just as we thought springtime was here it seems to have reverted to winter! Oh well at least you can enjoy all those chocolate eggs without fear of them melting!

Out of Focus
Here's a recent editorial Illustration I did for the March/April issue of National Geographic Traveller. This was to accompany a piece about being so obsessed with taking photos of the places that you never actually appreciate them & travelling far to see 'amazing' sites to photograph to find out they are not at all what you had imagined!

Hat's Off!

I was recently asked to help rebrand attorney firm, Venner Shipley's identity. They were looking for something fresh but still in keeping with the company's ethos an decided along with some new look typography to use illustration which is where I stepped in. Working closely with a graphic team we developed a strict colour scheme that all the illustrations should be in. Here are some of the images which feature in their brochures and website.

SugarlandAs a recent personal project I've created these festive characters each with a different wintery & christmas themed hat. These candy coated illustrations inspired by vintage christmas decorations from the 60s & 70s & Phil Spector type Christmas songs will certainly be bringing good tidings to you and your kin!I've made the designs into a set of limited edition art print/cards ideal to give to that special someone under the mistletoe or as an unusual stocking filler. Each design is an edition of 100 signed and numbered. Available to buy upon request.
We wish you a Merry Christmas & a Happy New Year!
Bedtime StoriesGerman family & lifestyle magazine Nido recently commissioned me to do these 2 illustrations for their December edition. The images accompany a short story by Florian Simbeck. The story which roughly translates as 'The Boy Who Wasn't there' is about a little kid who can't sleep and his dad - too busy with work to read him any more stories - tells him if he just lays there long enough he will eventually 'be gone' 9 as in gone to sleep )Being a little boy with a huge imagination he worries that he will actually disappear so has to investigate the other people & animals in his house sleepin. In the end both the boy & dad both fall fast asleep & the only place they have 'gone' is to dreamland. Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz!
